Adjusting Calcium Hardness

Low Calcium Hardness will cause pool water to become aggressive.  It will eventually lead to etching of pool equipment & surfaces, including vinyl, plastics & stainless steel.

High Calcium Hardness will cause cloudy or hazy water especially when the water temperature goes over 85° F.  Left alone, high CH (over 300 ppm) will cause scaling of pool surfaces & equipment.  Dilution by adding fresh, lower CH water to the pool is the only way to correct High CH.

Calcium Hardness too high, cloudy water and / or scaling may occur.
Draining SOME water will help.
Never completely drain your pool.  Serious damage will occur.

Remember to retest the Calcium Hardness the following day, letting the filter run continuously & adjust as necessary.
